MVP Chess is a not-for-profit organization in Alexandria, Virginia, dedicated to developing skilled and confident players through expert coaching, structured training, and a supportive community that fosters a growth mindset.
Founded and led by Tom Shupe, MVP Chess provides a full range of programs for young players, including after-school clubs, lessons, and tournaments. With a track record of guiding students to state championships and major tournament victories, MVP Chess empowers students to grow their skills, confidence, and love of the game.

Tournaments
MVP Chess is a proud US Chess affiliate, bringing official rated play to our community. We organize local tournaments for scholastic players of all ages and abilities, creating a welcoming environment where every student can test their skills and grow.
